Following on from sci-fi action one-two punch DISTRICT 9 and ELYSIUM, Neill Blomkamp’s third theatrical outing CHAPPIE has added yet another formidable talent to its cast list.
No stranger to science fiction and the bizarre, Sigourney Weaver is set to join Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel for the South African director’s intriguing mix of sci-fi and comedy. Blomkamp regular Sharlto Copley voices the titular robot who finds himself on the run from gangsters who long to use his intelligence for their own, rather questionable needs.
Though there are currently no details on who the actress will be playing, production on CHAPPIE is underway ready for a March 2015 U.S. release. In the meantime, get excited for Weaver’s long-awaited next collaboration with Ridley Scott, EXODUS. Or just watch GHOSTBUSTERS – it is Halloween after all.
